user first mental Health
Mindme.

At the beginning of 2024, I went on a journey to find and solve the problems many were facing on their self-betterment journeys.
Timeline
From researching and ideation to testing and final designs completed in 4 weeks.
Background
Each and every one of our growth journeys has to start somewhere, and it can be daunting to begin. With Mindme. however, It doesn't have to be. With Mindme. You can find all of the resources you need to start and grow on your self-betterment journey. From daily journaling to meditation, the app offers support at every turn.
This category details the step-by-step approach taken during the project, including research, planning, design, development, testing, and optimization phases.
Research
Competitive Analyses/User Interviews
I began by delving into research on various markets, focusing on a thorough competitor analysis to understand the landscape and identify key players. Following this, I organized and conducted a series of user interviews designed to uncover the specific challenges users face and to gain insight into their preferences and needs. This approach allowed me to gather rich qualitative data that highlighted both existing pain points and potential opportunities for improvement.
Define
Wire-framing/User Testing
Creating the ideal structure for the app required several rounds of testing. During this process, I was able to identify and enhance the user experience. Ultimately, I felt that I successfully met all of the users' needs in the most efficient manner possible.
Design
UI interfaces/Style Guide
Throughout the entire process, I want the user to be involved at every stage. Designing a clean visual identity begins with exploring color psychology to establish a color scheme that reflects the brand's mission and vision. By aligning the brand with a soft yet bright blue, we evoke feelings of trust, loyalty, and peace for the user.
Finalise
Hi Fidelity mockups
Finalizing this project required a comprehensive assessment of the extensive data collected during the testing phase. Additionally, I revisited the initial goals I had established at the outset of the project, ensuring that we remained aligned with our original vision. Throughout this process, I focused on identifying areas for improvement and refinement within our procedures, aiming to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
The resulting user-first mental health app offers a seamless user experience, allowing individuals to get the help they need in the most efficient and personalised way possible.
My Goals
MyGoals tackles the task overwhelm pain point we discussed previously. With MyGoals users are able to break down their longterm and daily goals into manageable tasks and convert further into easy to accomplish steps. With this users are focused on the small task ahead of them and can accomplish more in shorter periods of time.
Time Management
To tackle time management I designed a task timer to accompany the goal steps and notifications to eliminate potential distractions and keep our user on course.
Therapist Availability
Not only does the user receive Task notifications but can also have access to chats with certified therapists. Therapists can be granted access to the user’s calendar (should they wish) where they are able to view the user’s Goals, Daily Achievements and journal entrees; to create useful and meaningful feedback. This can be in the form of goal suggestions, shadow work questions and daily, monthly or yearly reviews to track the users growth and where they can improve. This process streamlines the users journey creating exceptionally fast progress.
Health & Mindset
Additional features include Meditation and a MyHealth section where users can track their meals, exercise and sleep. I wanted to include these features so that users would not have to switch between apps and be able to manage all their needs from one platform.
Here, the outcomes and achievements of the project are highlighted
Project achievements
User-centred design has been pivotal to the success of the MindMe app, fostering an intuitive and engaging experience tailored to users' needs. By involving users in the design process, key features that enhance usability were identified, such as customizable goal-setting and easy tracking of mental well-being activities. This approach not only improves user satisfaction and retention but also encourages active participation, making MindMe a valuable tool for individuals seeking to enhance their mental health. Ultimately, prioritizing user feedback has allowed MindMe to continuously evolve, ensuring it remains relevant and effective in supporting users on their wellness journeys.
Lessons Learned
While the UI process felt more turbulent, the focus on the user experience and research was definitely worthwhile. During my process designing Mindme. I learned so much about designing for solutions and how by identifying problems and pain points you can build a much stronger foundation for your projects.
Moving forward
Going forward I hope to continue designing and researching Mindme. with one day taking it into development as I feel, with a little more work, Mindme. could become something
really special with the ability to evoke real change and positivity.
